How to make a painted Applique Landscape Quilt

I wanted to share how I make my painted and applique landscape wall hanging. It's a class I have taught to my junior quilters and wish to teach it again. Below are photos of the progress of the quilt from photograph or image, painted background, added fabric details and then finished quilt after free motion quilting.

From this I enlarge the image so its a line drawing and approx. 8" x 10". This I trace using pencil onto a slightly larger piece of muslin. Then using watered downacrylic paints  I blend colors and fill in the background. When I am happy with that I will fussy cut small pieces of fabric to add details and focus pieces and glue those to the muslin.

Finally adding a blue border finishes the wall hanging off by neatening up the sides. The quilt and border are free motion quilted using colored and variegated threads.
